Best Christmas gifts for kids under $25 in 2026, by age

Twenty-five dollars is the price limit for most holiday gift swaps, classroom exchanges and aunt-and-uncle presents, and it is also where toy listings are most crowded. To cut through it we kept only toys that cost under $25, hold 4.7★ or better and have more than 25,000 Amazon ratings. Ten picks, sorted by age. Prices and ratings are from our September 24, 2026 catalog check.
Ages 0–2: the two most-reviewed toys we track
1. Mega Bloks First Builders Big Building Bag. With 132,122 ratings at 4.8★, this is the most-reviewed product in our whole catalog. It has 60 oversized blocks in 10 shapes, and the listing sells it as the No. 1 junior building set worldwide. The blocks are big enough that a one-year-old can pull them apart without help, and that is the reason parents buy it.
2. LeapFrog Learning Friends 100 Words Book. It ranks #14 in all of Toys & Games and #1 among interactive learning books, with 96,284 ratings. Touching a word on the page makes the book say it, and the 100+ words are grouped into pets, food, colours and opposites.
Ages 3–5: characters and open-ended play
3. Bluey Family Figure 4-Pack. Bluey, Bingo, Chilli and Bandit, all with movable arms and legs. If the child watches the show, this is the easiest gift on the list.
4. TeeTurtle Reversible Octopus Plushie. A 4-inch plush that flips inside out to switch between a happy face and a grumpy one. It has 102,871 ratings, and it is small enough to fit in a stocking.
5. LEGO Classic Medium Creative Brick Box. Bricks in 35 colours, plus wheels, eyes and windows, in a box that doubles as storage. It has 57,940 ratings. There is no set model to finish, so children can build whatever they like. See its full ToyScout page.
Ages 6–8: games the adults will play too
6. SKYJO. A card game where you try to finish with the lowest score. It ranks #5 in dedicated-deck card games with 76,155 ratings. Keeping score also means adding up two-digit numbers, and it is one of the most-reviewed family card games in our catalog.
7. Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. A fast slap-the-pile game with 10–15 minute rounds and 54,925 ratings.
8. Educational Insights Kanoodle. A one-player logic puzzle with 228 challenges, from beginner to expert, in a case that also works as the board. It has 35,189 ratings. Because it is a one-player game, it suits a child who likes to play alone.
Ages 9–12: word games and a craft that glows
9. Bananagrams. 4.9★ across 26,903 ratings, the highest average rating on this list. It is 144 letter tiles in a banana-shaped zip pouch, and it fits in a stocking.
10. Dan&Darci Glow-in-the-Dark Rock Painting Kit. Ten river rocks, puffy glow paints, glitter glue and gems, with 31,649 ratings. The listing says ages 6–12, but the glow paint makes it work at the older end of that range too.
What to skip
Surprise-egg and blind-bag toys at this price. Most of the cost goes on packaging, and repeats are common. Anything with a two-digit review count at this time of year: brand-new listings have not had time to show how they hold up. And generic “gift sets” that bundle stationery. They look generous in the listing photo, but they are mostly filler.
The bottom line
For a gift swap with one price for every child, the safe picks are SKYJO (8+) and Bananagrams (8+). For toddlers, the Mega Bloks bag has more reviews than anything else we track. Prices change often from October on, so check the Amazon price before you buy. For more picks by category, see our Games and Building Toys pages.
